【摘要】:Pentaneinsolublescanincludeoil-insolublematerialsandsomeoil-insolubleresinousmatteroriginatingfromoiloradditivedegradation,orboth.Tolueneinsolublematerialscancomefrom(1)externalcontamination,(2)fuelcarbonandhighlycarbonizedmaterialsfromdegradationoffuel,oil,andadditives,or(3)enginewearandcorrosionmaterials.Asignificantchangeinpentaneinsolubles,tolueneinsolubles(withorwithoutcoagulant),andinsolubleresinsindicatesachangeinoilwhichcouldleadtolubricationsystemproblems.Insolublesmeasuredcanalsoassistinevaluatingtheperformancecharacteristicsofausedoilorindeterminingthecauseofequipmentfailure.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofpentaneandtolueneinsolublesinusedlubricatingoils.1.2ProcedureAcoversthedeterminationofinsolubleswithouttheuseofcoagulantinthepentane.Itprovidesanindicationofthematerialsthatcanreadilybeseparatedfromtheoil-solventmixturesbycentrifuging.1.3ProcedureBcoversthedeterminationofinsolublesinoilscontainingdetergentsandemploysacoagulantforboththepentaneandtolueneinsolubles.InadditiontothematerialsseparatedbyusingProcedureA,thiscoagulationprocedureseparatessomefinelydividedmaterialsthatmaybesuspendedintheoil.Note18212;ResultsobtainedbyProceduresAandBshouldnotbecomparedsincetheyusuallygivedifferentvalues.Thesameprocedureshouldbeemployedwhencomparingvaluesobtainedperiodicallyonanoilinuseorwhencomparingresultsdeterminedbytwoormorelaboratories.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecificwarningstatements,seeSection7and9.1.1.
